Abstract sculpture (1969) titled ‘Juggling Act’ by British artist William Black.
Crafted from cut copper alloy pieces, depicting abstract figures embellished with kinetic elements — full of idiosyncratic charm.
The metal pieces have taken on varying patinas over the years, along with some spots of rust that add to its character.
Black formerly worked as an architect and moved to St Ives in the 50s to pursue a career as a self-taught artist; during this time, notable names such as Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, and Naum Gabo were also active, who are considered to have influenced Black’s work.
Signed and dated on the base.
In good vintage condition, with some age-related patina, nothing that detracts from the beauty of the piece. Please refer to images.
