Peter Hayes Ceramic Vase
Peter Hayes Ceramic Vase
A ceramic vase (c.1980) by British ceramic artist Peter Hayes.
Haye’s work is influenced by his travels, particularly his time spent living and travelling through Africa where he worked alongside local makers and potters.
The vase is hand-built and incised using simple tools to create an irregularly textured surface. The clay has been burnished over the textured surface to create a finely smooth finish, then coated in a red-brown slip before placing in the kiln — resulting in a rich brown with subtle red tones.
In good vintage condition — some small areas of colour loss to the surface. A possible small visible repair to one of the sides, a detail which gives the piece some extra charm. Nothing which detracts from the beauty of this piece. Please refer to photos.
Artist’s signature inscribed to the base.
