Hannes Meinhard Abstract Sculpture

A hand forged abstract sculpture by German sculptor Hannes Meinhard.

This piece is made from iron with a column-like form and wonderful textures. You really feel the touch of the sculptor’s hand through the texture and bevelled edges of the metal.

Hannes Meinhard worked intuitively, allowing the work to unfold and lead the way. The rigour and strength of the material, contrasted with his fluid and free way of working was something which drew him to working with iron; creating a physical impression of 'power, strength and poetry'.

While this piece stands relatively small, its beauty is in its texture and form.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The iron has developed a beautiful patina, a dark slate grey which has taken on a subtle red rust to the pitted textured base — for Meinhard, rust was part of the process.
