A large sculptural candle holder (c.1965) by Michael Harjes for Harjes Metalkunst.
This piece is handcrafted from solid bronze with a lovely patina, including some areas of green verdigris. Formed from three fixed arms, which stack irregularly on top of each other, creating a beautiful silhouette.
Harjes Metallkunst is a family-run artisanal metal studio in Germany, established in 1912 and led by Michael Harjes from 1954 until his death in 2006. Michael was strongly influenced by nature and introduced more sculptural and organic forms when he took over the studio.
