Abbott Pattison 'Adam & Eve' Relief
Abbott Pattison 'Adam & Eve' Relief
A sculptural relief (c.1960) mounted on wood by American artist Abbott Pattison.
Hand-sculpted and cast in bronze — a study of two curvaceous nudes with charming naive qualities, characteristic of Pattison’s figurative work.
Nicely aged, with some areas of oxidation and a dark tone to the bronze and wood.
This piece is a single-edition casting, signed on the front and with a handwritten note on the back.
Pattison was both a sculptor and painter, his figurative work influenced by ancient Greek and Etruscan art. He was a celebrated artist, exhibited throughout his career, notably at The Met, Art Institute of Chicago, and The Whitney — where he is part of the permanent collection.
In very good vintage condition, with some age-related wear.
